Micromax’s market share had reached to 16.6% in the second quarter of the year 2014 beating down the Samsung which had about 14.4% of the market share. Samsung is currently facing a serious competition from Micromax and other Indian handset sellers.
Micromax had been successful in targeting the consumers in India in the past 5 years.
But Samsung is still having large share in smartphone segment in terms of mobile shipment which is about 25.3% whereas Micromax have 19.1%.
Earlier Samsung had about 33.3% market share in smartphones while Micromax had about 16.7%.
The domestic market in India have 32% of the market share by the Indian mobile phone manufacturers.
Nokia was at the third position with about 10.9% while the domestic brands such as Karbonn and Lava had about 9.5% and 5.6% shares.
Micromax was incorporated on 29 March 2000 and started its mobile phone manufacturing operations in 2010. It is an Indian company.
